An embedded system is one that has computer hardware and software embedded in it as one of its important components. The important part in embedded system is processor. Mainly Microcontrollers and digital signal processors are used in embedded system. Reducing size, cost of the product, increasing reliability and performance can be done in embedded system as the embedded system is dedicated to specific tasks. Hardware, application software and real time operating systems are the components of embedded system. However there are certain limitations to embedded system for example available system memory, available processor speed and the need to limit the power dissipation etc. nearly every consumer electronics uses embedded system for example Digital cameras, mp3 players, television, mobile phones, washing machines, microwave ovens etc. Even transportation systems use embedded system. It is used in automobiles, electricity operated vehicles etc. embedded system is also used in medical equipments nowadays.
