Instruments are use in power plants, refineries or chemical plants to control automation systems. A control system is a branch of Instrumentation. A Device known as transmitter is produces output signal the range of output control single is often from 4-20mA current signal or 0-10V electrical volt signal. There is another option for control signal like frequency signal, air pressure signal or Data signal through Ethernet. Control signal can send to Control systems which is control by PLC, DCS, or SCADA Systems .Following parameters are measures using instrument: Pressure, either differential or static, Flow, Temperature, Levels of liquids, Density, Viscosity, Other mechanical properties of materials, Properties of ionizing radiation, Frequency, Current, Voltage, Inductance, Capacitance, Resistivity, Chemical composition, Chemical properties, Properties of light, Vibration, Weight. Instrumentation engineering is focused on the principle and operation of measuring instruments; Instrument engineers are responsible for integrating the sensors with devices such as recorders, transmitters, displays or control systems. They may design or specify installation, wiring and signal conditioning. Instrument engineers are also responsible for calibration, testing and maintenance of control system in the process plant.
